Game Design with Roblox (Grades 1-5)
Learn the basics of game design while creating your own 3D worlds in Roblox Studio! This class introduces students to the tools and possibilities Roblox offers for designing interactive games. They’ll explore how to build environments, add characters, and bring their ideas to life with simple coding. By the end of camp, each student will have created original projects that showcase their creativity and problem- solving skills. Bring a USB on the last day to save your games. 3D Printing: Nintendo-Themed Characters (Grades 3-7)
Bring your favorite video game worlds to life by creating Nintendo-inspired characters with TinkerCAD while learning essential 3D design skills. Students will model unique creations in three dimensions, experiment with shapes and structures, and transform their digital ideas into real objects using 3D printers. While prints are finishing, campers can join Nintendo-themed challenges and even design their own video games inspired by the characters they love. Each student will have two small printed projects sent home. Printing and material fees are included. Bring a USB drive on the last day. Extreme Robotics: Robo-Wars (Grades 2-6)
Get ready for an exciting class filled with new builds and challenges! Students will take their engineering skills to the next level by constructing remote-controlled robots inspired by the popular Discovery Channel show BattleBots. Using LEGO® Robotics systems and specialized Technic™ engineering components, they’ll build extreme machines designed for competition. Working in small teams of two to three, students will test, re-engineer, and morph their robots to become better, stronger, and faster before entering them into a high-energy tournament on the final day. YouTube Creator & Shoutcasting (Grades 4-10)
Turn your love of gaming into an on-screen (and on-mic) talent! In YouTube Creator & Shoutcasting, students will step into the world of esports media by planning highlight reels, recording their own voice-overs, and practicing shoutcasting—the art of delivering hype-filled, crystal-clear game commentary. Along the way, they’ll learn pacing, energy, and clarity while also covering essential “safe streaming” practices to keep their online presence positive and protected. The camp wraps up with a polished final project blending gameplay clips, graphics, and live commentary—giving students the tools and confidence to create content like their favorite streamers and esports casters. With simple tools and beginner-friendly techniques, students will also learn basic “mastering” skills to give their songs a polished, punchy sound. In this eco-friendly jewelry-making course, students embark on a creative journey starting with recycled materials to craft environmentally conscious accessories.The course culminates in working with air dry clay & resin to create unique and polished items like bracelets, rings, earrings, jewelry boxes, and keychains. Multiplayer Minecraft: Theme Park Builder (Grades 1-5)
Work as a team to create a custom theme park in Minecraft. Use creativity and Redstone to create this world! Possible projects include roller coasters, water rides, a trampoline park, an obstacle course, a boat race, bumper boats, a dunk tank, and many more rides and attractions! Students will get a copy of the world map to take home and expand on. We will be using the PC/Java Edition of Minecraft. Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day. Drumline Camp (Grades 7-12)
No experience necessary to attend this drumline camp – students of all levels and abilities are invited to come have fun drumming! Drumline camp is open to all ISD 622 students who are entering grades 7-12. All equipment, instruments, sticks, mallets, and music will be provided. Whether you already have been part of a drumline or you don’t have any experience at all, this camp is for you. In this camp we will give you all the information needed to play a battery instrument in an indoor drumline, from introduction to kinds of drumline instruments to technique to marching with the instruments to instruction in the drum of your choice (tenor, bass, or snare). Join us and have a great time learning about the wonderful world of indoor drumline! *Students who participate in this camp will have the opportunity to continue their drumline involvement by joining Fusion Drumline in the fall. In Sound & Music for Games, students will step into the role of audio designer as they record their own DIY sound effects, craft digital bleeps and booms, and arrange simple music loops that perfectly match gameplay moments. Along the way, they’ll learn the basics of layering audio, choosing export formats, and building a personalized mini sound library they can take home for future projects. Whether paired with Game Design, Minecraft camps, or explored on its own, this camp gives kids the tools to add excitement, atmosphere, and creativity to every game they play or create. Fishing in Your Neighborhood:Family Fishing Clinic (Ages 5+)
Description: Join the MN DNR’s Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) program for a fun, family-friendly evening of fishing! Designed for ages 5 and up, each youth must be accompanied by an adult. No experience or equipment is needed—we’ve got you covered! Rain or shine, come dressed for the weather and enjoy a great outdoor adventure close to home. Note: Each child (or group of siblings) MUST have an adult chaperone. In partnership with the Minnesota Dept. of Natural Resources.
