Getting Started in Hydroponic Gardening - NEW!Curious MindsThis class will focus on growing edible things--fruits and vegetables--rather than flowers. You'll get an overview of hydroponics and how it compares to soil-based gardening. We'll briefly review several common hydroponic techniques and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques. The focus of the class will be on one particular technique, "Deep Water Culture." A variation on this technique will be used in a simple, hands-on project you'll work on at home, which will involve growing a head of lettuce. The goals of this project will be to give you experience with some of the basics of hydroponic growing and to provide knowledge that will help you step up to more complex systems that are capable of growing a wider variety of crops, if you choose to do so later. Harmony Adventure for Women- Women's ChorusCurious MindsExperience great fun and enhanced well-being through singing four-part harmony with the Vallee de Croix Women’s Chorus. You will attend evening rehearsals and be provided with music, learning materials, and vocal coaching, culminating in one or two holiday performance opportunities in December. A free voice lesson is included in your registration. If you love to sing and have been looking for a fun group to participate in, this is the place for you! Brandon Galbraith directs the Vallee de Croix Chorus. He is a graduate of the U of MN in Musical Education, directs 3 choruses, and sings/ competes in a quartet & an octet. He has a great sense of fun and practice is very enjoyable. His musical expertise is extensive and he shares it generously. While he leads the chorus practice and does the individual lessons, many of our members will lead small breakout sessions on a musical topic that interests them and allows everyone to get to know each other in a smaller group.Fall 26 -
