Day Trip: Harmony Amish Country TourSpecial EventsJoin us for an enriching tour of an Amish colony nestled in the picturesque town of Harmony, Minnesota. A knowledgeable walk-on guide will accompany us on the bus, sharing fascinating insights into the Amish way of life. This tour offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in a unique culture while observing traditional farming practices reminiscent of our ancestors. Before the tour, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal at The Branding Iron in Preston, MN. Your ticket includes transportation in a deluxe motor coach, a guided tour of Harmony’s Amish colony, and lunch at The Branding Iron. Meal options include battered shrimp, battered cod, pork chop, or chicken kabob, each served with sides and a beverage. Please note that dessert is not included. The tour departs at 8:15 AM from Gladstone Community Education Center, located at 1945 Manton St, Maplewood, MN 55109, and returns at approximately 6:00 PM to the same location. Cancellations made before May 6, 2026, will incur a $15 processing fee. Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued after May 6, 2026. Day Trip: Murder Mystery Luncheon NEW!Special EventsIn the charming village of Afton, at the historic Afton House Inn overlooking the scenic St. Croix River Valley, a crime is waiting to be solved! Within one of our elegant dining rooms—the Wheel Room or the Pennington Room—rich with antique ambiance, guests are assigned roles in an interactive murder mystery play. You can choose to take part as a character or simply enjoy being an onlooker as the story unfolds. As you work to clear your own name, you’ll have the chance to question others, uncover motives, and point out possible suspects. Over the course of two hours filled with laughter, intrigue, and surprise twists, a delicious luncheon will be served. Once the mystery is solved, take some time to explore the delightful Afton House Inn. If available, unoccupied guest rooms are open for viewing, each uniquely furnished to showcase the charm and history of this special property. The Menu: Rosemary Roasted Pork Loin with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, a Rosemary Demin Glaze, Fresh Vegetables, Rolls & Butter, Coffee or Hot Tea, Dessert. Day Trip: St. Paul Art Deco & LunchSpecial EventsTake a docent-led Art Deco Tour of the Ramsey County Courthouse and Saint Paul City Hall. Tour the architecturally significant spaces and features within Saint Paul City Hall/Ramsey County Courthouse. It is a 21- story Art Deco skyscraper which opened to the public in 1932. The building serves as the main location for Minnesota’s Second Judicial Court and City Hall. It contains The Vision of Peace, the world’s largest carved onyx statue. The building has 23 kinds of wood from 18 countries and various marbles throughout. This is a working building; not all rooms are available to tour at all times. The building is subject to security issues and government regulations that may require last-minute restrictions and changes. Visitors will be walking and standing for approximately 90-minutes. We will have lunch at the Union Depot's,1881 Eating House, which reflects the style and quality of the Lake Elmo Inn family. After lunch we will have a guided narrated tour of the Union Depot. St. Paul’s elegant Neo-Classical Union Depot was the dream of railroad baron James J. Hill. Completed in 1926, it was the largest construction project of the20th century in St. Paul. Hear how the railroads literally shaped the city of St Paul and about the fiery past that led to the current depot’s creation. Learn why it was also important to gangsters and prohibitionists. You will also enjoy the Neo-Classical architecture and beautiful public art. Visitors will be walking and standing for approximately 60 minutes. Day Trip: Wabasha Street Caves and Gangster Tour NEW!Special EventsDuring this adventure, you will experience two unique experiences, the Wabasha Cave History Tour and the original Saint Paul Gangster Tour! The Historic Tour begins in the 1800s when the location was a silica mine and travels in time to when it was a mushroom farm. Eventually it was developed into a gangsters’ hotspot during the 1920’s prohibition era! All caves are accessible, and heated to room temperature. For the Saint Paul Gangster Tour we will board a motor coach and ride in comfort as a costumed gangster character guides you throughout the 5-mile area of St. Paul. You will learn why Saint Paul was a center for bootlegging operations and criminal activities during the prohibition era and beyond. You will see where these criminals " lived it up" as they planned and executed some of the most nefarious crimes ever perpetrated in the upper Midwest. You will learn about notorious hoodlums like John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Alvin "Creepy" Karpis, Fred Barker, Arthur "Doc" Barker, and Ma Barker. Join us for a journey through the days when Saint Paul streets were filled with corruption. In between tours, you will enjoy an Italian lunch of pasta (choice of spaghetti, fettuccine, and rotini), various sauces (alfredo, meat sauce, marinara), a meat (chicken, meatballs, Italian sausage), breadsticks, salad, dessert, and beverages.
