Birding in the East Metro

Join us for a relaxing nature walk at one of Washington County's most beautiful urban parks, Oakdale Nature Preserve. Meet at the Oakdale Nature Preserve Visitors and Discovery Center, located at 4444 Hadley Avenue N, Oakdale, MN. From there, we'll enjoy a leisurely stroll along the preserve's winding paved trails.

We will be walking on 6-foot-wide paved paths with gentle inclines throughout the route and one steeper hill (2-4% grade) that is approximately 150 feet long. Depending on the weather and the group's abilities, we will travel between 1 and 2.5 miles.

Along the way, keep an eye out for songbirds, woodpeckers, and sparrows in the trees. As we make our way to the lake boardwalk, we may also spot swans, ducks, herons, and even bald eagles. This outing is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, and experience the beauty of the preserve at a comfortable pace.

Restrooms are available at the Visitor Center, which will serve as both our starting and ending point.
