Field Trip: Big Fish MusicalTrips & Special EventsExperience the magical musical Big Fish, a heartfelt story of adventure, family, and imagination as a son searches for truth in his father’s larger-than-life tales. ASL interpretation available. Participants needing support must attend with a registered caregiver. Caregivers must register and purchase a ticket. There is a limited number of seats on the bus, so be sure to register early! We are grateful to Rosetown Playhouse for their generosity, which allows us to offer discounted tickets to this event, and to Community Bridge for covering the transportation costs. The bus leaves from Gladstone Community Education Center Evening Schedule: 5:45 PM – Meet at Gladstone Community Education Center (1945 Manton St, Maplewood MN 55109) 6:00 PM – Bus departs from Gladstone 6:30 PM – Arrive at Como Pavilion 7:00–9:15 PM – Big Fish performance, including a 15-minute intermission. 10:00 PM – Return to Gladstone Not riding the bus? You may meet the Community Bridge staff member at the entrance to the Como Pavilion (1360 Lexington Pkwy N, St. Paul, MN 55103) at 6:30 PM to collect your ticket. WaitlistHot Mosaics – Fused Glass CreationsArts & CraftsThis class is designed for adults with cognitive disabilities and is partly supported by state funds and a grant from the Kinney Family Foundation. It combines two forms of glass art: mosaicking and glass fusing! Create a dramatic fused mosaic six-inch plate or candle holder. Your design will be embellished with colorful glass pieces, dichroic glass, stringer, murrines, and pebbles. Once completed, your creation will be fired by the instructor (allow 7–10 days). Monarch Magic: Meet the Butterfly!Hobby & LeisureCelebrate Pollinator Week by learning about one of nature’s most amazing insects—the monarch butterfly! Master Gardeners will bring real monarch eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalises (when available) so you can see the butterfly life cycle up close. We’ll learn how monarchs grow and change, where they travel during their incredible migration, and why pollinators like butterflies and bees are so important to our world. Then plant zinnia flower seeds in a small pot to take home. With a little care, your flowers will grow and bloom later this summer—providing food for butterflies and other pollinators! Pick Flowers & Make Your Own BouquetHobby & LeisureCome enjoy flowers and time outdoors at Pine Hill Flowers in Woodbury! In this relaxed, hands-on class, your instructor will show how to pick flowers and arrange them into a bouquet. Then you will walk through the flower field, choose your favorite flowers, and create your own bouquet. This class is fun, creative, and a great way to enjoy nature with others. Create one large bouquet per registered participant to take home. (No vase provided.) Caregivers are welcome to come along to support their attendee. Class meets outdoors at Pine Hill’s You-pick Flower Garden on Dale Road between Radio Drive and Woodbury Drive. Please wear comfortable shoes for walking in the garden.
