Learn to KayakFitness and WellnessThe Learn to Kayak program offers adults a supportive, beginner-friendly introduction to kayaking in a small-group setting. Designed for those with little or no prior experience, this course focuses on safety, foundational paddling techniques, and building confidence on the water. Instruction begins on land, where participants learn essential kayaking skills, equipment use, and water safety procedures. The class then transitions to on-water practice at a calm, kayak-friendly body of water, allowing participants to apply skills in a controlled and encouraging environment. Safety awareness and proper technique are emphasized throughout the program. Level 1&2Swim Lessons for YouthFundamental Skills - ages 6 and older Prerequisite: Age 6 years and older. No previous experience required. Beginning Level Swim Class Swimmers will develop a good foundation of water adjustment, movement, and safety. Levels 1&2 are combined because many can pass Level 1 in a few lessons, and Level 2 builds on the skills in Level 1. Class Skills include: Assisted and Independent Front and Back Float Assisted and Independent Gliding on Front and Back Bobbing under and also Retrieving submerged objects in shallow water Alternating leg and arm movements for a Combined Stroke on Front and Back. Pool Temperature Information: Our pools are used year-round by swim teams and clubs. The pool temperatures are determined by the safety standards set forth by various governing bodies for swim teams, which is between 77 and 82 degrees Fahrenheit. We keep our pools on the high end at 82 degrees. Cancellations/Missed Lesson Policy: An $8 processing fee will be deducted from your refund if you withdraw from a class up to 7 days before the start date. Refunds will not be given after that time. We are unable to offer make-up classes or refunds for lessons missed because of illness, injury or personal reasons. If a lesson is cancelled due to weather or unplanned pool maintenance, we will make every attempt to reschedule it for a later date. This class builds on previous skills mastered with emphasis on Refining the Front Crawl and the Elementary Backstroke with attention to detail and developing endurance. Additional Skills include: Breaststroke Butterfly Back Crawl Sidestroke Open Turns Pool Temperature Information: Our pools are used year-round by swim teams and clubs.
